Competition
The Galaxy Explorer Competition is an annual, online national competition in Malaysia for students from Standard 4 to Form 5 and Pre-University level.
Explore the Universe
It features engaging challenges in space science and astronomy that aim to spark curiosity, develop critical thinking and encourage interest in exploring the universe, while achieving the following objectives:
Expand Understanding
To expand students’ understanding of astronomy and space science, including topics such as the solar system, planets, stars and galaxies.
Spark Curiosity
To spark scientific curiosity and deepen interest in the universe through challenging questions and interactive activities.
Inspire Exploration
To inspire further learning and exploration in space science through a fun and educational experience.

Galaxy Explorer Preparatory Workshop 2026/2027
Prepare confidently for the Galaxy Explorer Competition 2026/2027 through a structured workshop designed to strengthen students’ astronomy knowledge, scientific thinking and problem-solving skills.

Galaxy Explorer Competition
An online national school-level competition that introduces general space science and astronomy.
Malaysian Astronomy Olympiad (MyAO)
The top 10% of students from the secondary category in Galaxy Explorer Competition will be selected for the next stage, the Malaysian Astronomy Olympiad (MyAO).
National Training Camp
The top 15 students from MyAO will be invited to participate in the Selection Camp, and the best four students will be selected for the National Training Camp.
International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO)
Four students from the National Training Camp will represent Malaysia at the International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO).
